Taekwondo history
I have been doing Taekwondo for about 11 years now. Originally, I started in Sport Karate competing both regionally, and nationally. After winning the U.S. Open in point fighting at the age of 18, I was recruited by Master Joe Pina (who is renowned in both the Cape Verdean community and Sport Karate, creating champions like the living legend Pedro Xavier). He is the recruitor for all of the Cape Verdean athletes living and training in the States, no matter what sport. Four years ago, he asked me to compete in full contact Taekwondo, and to represent Cape Verde in international competition...and the rest is HISTORY!
life in the club is...
"International Zone": We could host a mini "Taekwondo World Championships" in the club. Countries participating: USA, Cape Verde, Brazil, Trinidad and Tobago, Russia, Korea, Japan, Australia, Greece, Jamaica, China, and Great Brittian.
life outside the club is...
I like long walks on the beach and sushi!...lol (Just Kidding) My other love is soccer, I've played all my life: high school and college ball. Webpage:
Taekwondo is...
LIFE!
Taekwondo@CWB is...
ALIVE!
Significant moments
Even though I was unable to compete in the Olympic Games (Athens, Greece), it was an experience and journey that I will never forget. Being there in the village and apart of the Olympic family is an experience that few can share. I was honored to be there with my friend Chinedum, as we walked our first steps in the Olympic Village. The Olympics is, indeed, an addictive drug..."got some PINS"!
Sound off!!
Come Join the CW family...(No more Welter Weights-just kidding!)
